Mustang is an ancient Himalayan dominion ruled by one of the few nobilities of Tibetan origin. This dominion was not open for foreigners until 1991. Inside the walled city of Lo Manthang are some of the largest Tibetan Buddhist Gompas in Nepal. This dominion is so closed from outside influences that even Nepali visitors are often mistaken for foreigners. The trek to Mustang is through a barren, almost treeless landscape. Strong winds usually howl across the area in afternoons and subsides at night. This is a wilderness trekking to the enigmatic kingdom of Mustang.
