Langtang Valley is the third popular
trekking area in Nepal. The trek up
the Langtang Valley is one of the
short treks. Langtang Valley lies to
the north of Kathmandu and is easily
accessible. Langtang Valley is the
native land of Tamang people and
Sherpa people from Helambu. Both are
the Buddhist ethnic tribes of Nepal.
The valley offers the scenic view of
a series of snow-capped mountain
peaks such as Langtang Lirung, the
Gang Chengpo from the south and so
on, slow moving rivers, pine forest
and swift mountain streams, numerous
Monasteries, prayer flags, rocks,
and picturesque landscape near the
passes to the Langtang. Rhododendron
begins to bloom in March and remains
in full bloom, which makes the
valley look more beautiful and
attractive. The Langtang Valley has
been declared as a national park,
which provides plenty of
opportunities to observe nature
closely. Semi-wild yaks, mountain
goats and snow leopards are found in
this national park. Trekkers can
expect climatic varieties – from
tropical to alpine – along this
trek. The trek to Helambu is open all
the year round. However, it is not
advisable to go on this trek during
the monsoon and winter. It is
difficult to cross Laurovinayak La
and Ganja La in winter due to the
thick layer of snow that covers this
area from December to February. |
